Pete Sommers
Joseph Andrews Sommers
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: unknown
Weight: 181 lbs.
Born: October 26, 1866 in Cleveland, OH
Died: July 22, 1908 in Cleveland, OH
If Pete had gotten just one more at-bat in the big leagues and had somehow managed to scratch out a hit, he would have retired with a career .200 batting average. As Providence would have it, though, he ended up south of the Mendoza Line, a hundred years before Mendoza. The card pictured is from the Old Judge set; it is most definitely not in my collection.
