Was a manager during one of the long droughts in Mets baseball history. His longtime general manager Frank Cashen said of him, "He was absolutely the best pitching coach I ever saw. Some of his theories were revolutionary." Pictured is a card from Bambi's playing days, when he was still just a minor league pitching prospect, from the 1953 Mother's Cookies PCL set. Another rare minor-league card is shown below.
