Departed: traded to the California Angels for Dave Gallagher, December 1991
Hubie was a relatively light-hitting third baseman when the suggestion was made that he move to shortstop, where he was a significantly stronger hitter than the average middle infielder of that era. That move probably helped to pave the way for the super shortstops of the '90s, although perhaps that fellow in Baltimore had a little bit more to do with it. Pictured here is Hubie's 1985 O-Pee-Chee card. A couple of oddball issues from his Expos days are pictured below.
