Acquired: traded from the Royals with Chris Jelic for Ed Hearn, Rick Anderson, and Mauro Gozzo, March 1987
Departed: traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for Jeff Kent and a player to be named later (Ryan Thompson), August 1992
Acquired: as a free agent, February 2003
Departed: retired, May 2003
Superior pitcher who won 20 games for the Mets in the '80s, and then won 20 for the Yankees ten years later. In between he had seasons where he led the major leagues in strikeouts, had a 19-strikeout game, and won a Cy Young award. He also has one of the majors' rarest gems, a perfect game, to his credit. And then he cemented his standing as an all-time hero to Mets fans (as if he needed to do more) by coming back with them as a 40-year-old and winning a spot in the starting rotation once again, however briefly.
