Bill Denehy
William Francis Denehy
Batted: Both
Threw: Right
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 200 lbs.
Born: March 31, 1946 in Middletown, CT
Signed: 1965 by the Mets
Departed: traded to the Washington Senators with cash for Gil Hodges, November 1967
Bill's greatest claim to fame was sharing a rookie card with Tom Seaver. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those to show you here. I do, however, have his card from the following season (1968 Topps), which is worth slightly less than his rookie card. Bill's second-greatest claim to fame is that he was traded with one hundred thousand dollars to the Washington Senators for their manager, one Mister Gil Hodges. Later on he played a few more years in the Mets' minor-league system.
