Bob Friend

Robert Bartmess "Warrior" Friend
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 190 lbs.
Born: November 24, 1930 in Lafayette, IN
Signed: 1949 by the Pittsburgh Pirates
Acquired: purchased from the New York Yankees, June 1966
Departed: released, October 1966

Bob, a favorite of Pittsburgh Pirates fans for many years, was credited with the victory in two All-Star games. The fact that he had a losing record for his career is certainly a testament to the quality of the teams he toiled for rather than his talent. He's shown here as the All-Star starting pitcher on this 1961 Topps card.
