The Mets obtained Matt during Spring Training 2004 from the White Sox for Timo Perez, and he made his NL debut in mid-May, filling in for Al Leiter. It was his first major-league start, and he faced Roger Clemens, doing an admirable job and pitching to a no-decision. His next start produced his first (and only) Met victory. Matt is shown here on a Grandstand minor league card from 2000.
