Ron was almost the Mets' starting shortstop for five years, riding the Tidewater-to-New York shuttle frequently until finally being displaced by Rafael Santana. He's shown here as a rookie on 1982 Donruss, and there is another card shown below which depicts Ron in his more familiar role as manager of the Twins.
