Acquired: traded from the Texas Rangers with a player to be named later (Ken Henderseon) as part of a four-team trade, December 1977; the Atlanta Braves sent Willie Montanez to the Mets; the Rangers sent Adrian Devine, Tommy Boggs, and Eddie Miller to the Braves; the Rangers sent Bert Blyleven to the Pittsburgh Pirates; the Pirates sent Al Oliver and Nelson Norman to the Rangers; the Mets sent Jon Matlack to the Rangers and John Milner to the Pirates
Departed: traded to the St. Louis Cardinals with Kim Seaman for Pete Falcone, December 1978
Tom was not a baseball superstar, but he has led a charmed life nonetheless. He had one season in the big leagues where he had 20 homers and 80 RBIs, so he did have a good taste of success as a hitter. After his career, he served as a major-league general manager. And afterwards, his son Ben was a slugging outfielder and winner of the Rookie-of-the-Year award. This is Tom's 1979 Topps card.
