Willard Hunter
Willard Mitchell Hunter
Batted: Right
Threw: Left
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 180 lbs.
Born: March 8, 1934 in Newark, NJ
Signed: 1955 by the Brooklyn Dodgers
Acquired: sent by the Los Angeles Dodgers to complete an earlier deal, May 1962; the Dodgers had traded Charlie Neal and a player to be named later (Hunter) for Lee Walls and cash
After his first major-league appearance with the Dodgers (10 runs in 2 innings), Bill may have thought he would not get a second chance! But he did pitch two years with the Mets, and led the club in saves in 1964. He's pictured here on a 1982 Renata Galasso card.
