Davey Johnson

David Allen Johnson
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 180 lbs.
Born: January 30, 1943 in Orlando, FL
Signed: 1962 by the Baltimore Orioles

Dave's first big-league managing job came with the Mets, and they became a winning team as soon as he took the helm. Coincidence? Probably not, because he had a record of turning around teams and taking them to the playoffs at almost every stop he had as a manager. In his playing days, he was an American League All-Star second baseman with the Orioles; he actually made the last out of the 1969 World Series, enabling the Mets to become World Champions. He also had one incredible year with the Braves where he launched an astounding 43 home runs; in no other season in his career did he hit as many as 20. The card shown here is from the 1972 Kellogg's 3D Superstars set; three more cards are pictured below.
