Ed Lynch
Edward Francis Lynch
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 230 lbs.
Born: February 25, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY
Drafted: 22nd round 1977 by the Texas Rangers
Acquired: sent from the Rangers to complete an earlier deal, September 1979; the Rangers had traded two players to be named later (Lynch and Mike Jorgensen) to the Mets for Willie Montanez
Departed: traded to the Chicago Cubs for Dave Liddell and Dave Lenderman, June 1986
Ed suffered with the Mets through the terrible years of the early '80s, and then was traded early in 1986 on the verge of the Mets' World Championship season--a move he likened to being sent away from his family just before Christmas. He's pictured here with the Chicago Cubs, for whom he became the general manager following his playing career, on his 1988 Score card.
