Hobie Landrith
Hobert Neal Landrith
Batted: Left
Threw: Right
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Born: March 16, 1930 in Decatur, IL
Signed: 1948 by the Cincinnati Reds
Acquired: via the Expansion Draft from the San Francisco Giants, October 1961
Departed: sent to the Baltimore Orioles to complete an earlier deal, June 1962; the Mets had traded a player to be named later (Landrith) and cash to the Orioles for Marv Throneberry
Hobie was the first player chosen by the Mets in the expansion draft. He played in only 23 games for New York, but will forever be the first Met. He's pictured here on a 1961 Topps Stamps panel, and below on a 1962 Jay Publishing photo.
