Mr. Met

Mister Met
Height: 6'10"
Born: 1964 in Flushing, NY

One of the all-time great mascots, Mr. Met first came to Shea as a misshapen papier-mâché baseball with a smile, and gradually evolved into the fine happy specimen you see here on this Uno card. A member of the Mascot Hall of Fame, Mr. Met is believed to be the first team mascot ever to appear in person; that is, not as a cartoon. Apparently conceived in 1963, he made his first public appearance in the season Shea Stadium opened, 1964, and has been a New York icon ever since. The list below contains all of the miscellaneous Mets-related cards in my collection.
