Departed: traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of a three-team trade, December 1987; the Dodgers sent Bob Welch and Matt Young to the Oakland Athletics; the Dodgers sent Jack Savage to the Mets; the Athletics sent Alfredo Griffin and Jay Howell to the Dodgers; the Athletics sent Kevin Tapani and Wally Whitehurst to the Mets
