Steve is best-known as the mastermind that created the National League Champions of 2000 as general manager, but he also played in the Mets' minor league system more than a decade earlier. After his days in the Mets front office, Steve became a popular voice for ESPN. Here he is shown as a second baseman for the Jackson Mets on a 1987 card sponsored by Coca-Cola.
