I had hoped for several years that side-arming Steve Reed would one day become a Met, and that wish came true at the July 2002 trading deadline, when he came to New York with Jason Middlebrook in exchange for the left-handed Bobby Jones and a couple of minor leaguers … one of whom was Jason Bay. Steve was that rarest of all hurlers: one who was successful pitching for the Colorado Rockies. Pictured here is an autographed copy of his 1993 Score Select card.
