A steady, professional ballplayer who was the epitome of an All-Star second baseman before the age of power-hitting middle infielders. Willie appeared in six League Championship Series, four World Series, and was selected to six All-Star teams in his career. After his playing career was over, he was treated to several more trips to the World Series as a member of the Yankees' coaching staff, and was finally rewarded in 2005 with the managerial reins to your very own New York Metropolitans. When he was unceremoniously fired midway through the 2008 season, he took with him the second-highest career winning percentage of any Met manager to date.
