Leroy Stanton
Leroy Bobby Stanton
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Born: April 10, 1946 in Latta, SC
Signed: 1965 by the Mets
Departed: traded to the California Angels with Francisco Estrada, Don Rose, and Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi, December 1971
Lee is most noted for being part of the package of four players that brought Jim Fregosi to the Mets. You know, considering the point Fregosi was at in his career, Stanton-for-Fregosi even-up might have been a fair trade. To say that the Mets overpaid in that deal is an understatement, even before considering that one of the four players they gave up was Nolan Ryan! Lee is shown here on his 1974 Topps card.
